In 1977 Phil McManamy and John Baker founded Monona Plumbing, Inc.; a two man plumbing business, with support and guidance from Harold Homburg. It was in 1983 the two gentlemen saw a need for a Madison based contractor to design and install Fire Protection Systems. At this time Fire Protection was added and the company began its' journey as a multifaceted business. The name was changed to its current Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection, Inc. (MPFP) to better reflect its' mission. Phil McManamy remains President of the company though Mr. Baker retired several years ago.
Since its beginning; Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection, Inc. has advanced not only in Plumbing and Fire Protection but also in Site Utilities and Mechanical contracting. When talking to Phil about the advancements in his business he stated "While having enjoyed a successful past, MPFP has not lost sight of the future in the construction industry. We have worked very hard to position ourselves for future growth well into the 21st century."1
Now with approximately 100 knowledgeable employees serving Madison and southern Wisconsin, Phil believes that the company's key for the future is taking time to prepare for the challenges and opportunities faced in this fast moving, ever-changing business and economic climate.
