Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know MPFP Service Technicians are qualified to do the work I need?
All of the service technicians at MPFP are experienced and trained in the area they service. Each technician must complete a rigorous apprentice program and licensing process before qualifying to become a technician. MPFP also conducts a thorough background check on all technicians so you can trust in the service you are receiving.
How do I know if my problem warrants an after-hours service call, or if it might wait until regular business hours?
Our Emergency Dispatch Center will connect you with an experienced, licensed plumber who will help you determine the level of urgency.
What types of inspections are needed for my sprinkler system?
Routine quarterly and annual inspections are required. An additional rigorous inspection is needed every 3 to 5 years. Examples of some of these inspections include internal check valve/piping, standpipe hydro testing and a full flood of dry systems. These are only a few of the additional inspections required.
How often should my sprinkler system be inspected?
The National Fire Protection Association NFPA 25 requires that your sprinkler system alarm be tested on a quarterly basis, in addition to one annual detailed inspection of your entire sprinkler system. Some municipalities require that the quarterlies are done by a licensed professional and other do not, but all annual sprinkler system inspections MUST be performed by a licensed sprinkler inspector. If you are interested in doing your own quarterly inspections, a member of our sprinkler service team would be glad to train you how.
Fire Protection – Contract
Does my building require a sprinkler system?
Yes, in most cases it does. This depends on the type of occupancy the building is being used for, what materials if any, are being stored there and the size of the building.
I need a sprinkler system, where do I start?
MPFP offers design services from small to large projects and a full line of consult services from design, water supply and project management needs. We will help you get started on the right path in just one call.
Do I need to have my sewer lines inspected?
A clogged sewer line can cause water to back-up in your basement. An annual sewer line inspection can be performed to prevent this. Your sewer line will be videotaped allowing us to check for damages or separations throughout the line during this inspection.
Do private fire hydrants need inspection?
The number of inspections and time frame for inspections will vary if you own a private fire hydrant. Please check your local city ordinance and/or municipality.
